The State College Area School District board has approved the district’s funding for reduced priced meals.
The approval means that reduced priced meals will remain free for eligible students during the upcoming school year.
The district’s food service department says they proposed the measure because the recently passed Federal Keep Kids Fed Act provided some funding but stopped short of funding free meals for all students.
To cover the cost of the payments, the district will use food service funds, grant funds, as well as expected subsidies from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the State.
