$1800 Was given by the Nittany American Legion in State College to 3 local high school students.
On Sunday, the recipients say that they are all students at State College High School.
The scholarship were given to the winners of the Legion’s essay contest. With this year’s topic being free speech, the top winner was awarded $1000
Organizers say he will have a chance to receive even more as his essay will now be judged against winners from other American Legion Posts in the district.
All of the winners say they plan to use this money to further their education.
The post commander says that this is the 1st year post has been able to award the scholarships
