UPMC Reinstates Mask Policy

UPMC says all of its hospitals will soon begin reimplements its universal masking policy due to a recent rise in cases of respiratory viruses such as COVID, RSV and influenza.

The policy will apply to all employees, visitors and patients, a UPMC spokesperson said.

“To protect the health and safety of our employees, patients and visitors, everyone in our health care facilities will wear effective masks which reduce transmission of respiratory viruses in health care settings. We will continue to monitor the number of cases in our communities and adjust our protocols as the situation evolves.”

Officials say the policy change will take effect on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
