The U.S. Is boosting its supply of Monkeypox vaccines by 1.8 Million doses in a renewed effort to combat the outbreak. Penn State says a Student diagnosed with Monkeypox is now recovering. It is their first case at the University Park Campus.
In State College, its Student move in weekend. Thousands are heading back to town for the upcoming Fall Semester. Penn State Thursday saying the State’s Department of Health confirms a University Park Campus Student tested positive for Monkeypox, earlier this week, on August 13th. The University says the Student lives off Campus, is isolated and recovering. Penn State is urging Students to take precautions against Monkeypox and contact University Health Services if they have symptoms, which a Geisinger Health System Doctor recently outlined for us.
Dr. Michael Hegstrom of Geisinger Health System saying: “You’ll see rashes or lesions. They’re pretty distinctive. Usually have a fever beforehand, swollen lymph nodes, those kind of symptoms. Once the rash comes out its pretty obvious what you have.”
Monkeypox is a viral infection, primarily spread through close contact. In most cases, it will resolve on its own, without prescription medicine. Over 360 cases of the Disease have now been reported in Pennsylvania.
