The Blair County Emergency Management Agency hosted a multi-agency resource workshop Tuesday for residents who were affected by flooding earlier this month.
On July 5th and 6th, flash flooding caused damage to homes, businesses and more in Tyrone Borough, Snyder Township and Altoona.
Emergency officials say state programs will open up; however, it starts with a damage assessment and what the affected families need and what households need that were affected by the flooding.
Officials say the goal is to get people back into a safe and sanitary environment.
“If they are covered by insurance, what is covered and what isn’t covered, then we also take a look at state agencies. We take a look at any state programs that are available. And then we take a look at working with the voluntary organizations that are active in disasters, like Salvation Army and Red Cross, and many that are represented here because they play a critical role in actually filling some of the gaps,”
Officials add that they are also looking at getting federal aid from the Small Business Administration.
