Brockway Community Pool To Stay Closed This Year

The Brockway community pool will remain closed for the 2026 summer season as officials work to address major structural problems at the nearly 70-year-old facility.

Park officials say the pool, which opened in 1958, can no longer operate safely because its liner has failed and the metal structure beneath the pool has deteriorated.

Maintenance officials estimate repairs could cost at least $500,000, though a final price will not be known until engineers and other professionals evaluate the facility.

The Brockway Recreation Board is pursuing grants and exploring other funding options to pay for the project. Officials also say they plan to ask the community for support through fundraising efforts.

The closure is expected to be temporary, with hopes of reopening the pool next year if funding can be secured.

In the meantime, the park’s splash pad will remain open and available for public use.

Officials say the pool has served generations of Brockway residents and has also provided summer employment opportunities for local teenagers.
