Police say a former Spanish teacher at the State College Area High School is facing charges following a months-long investigation into allegations that he had inappropriate contact with a female student.
Authorities say they were contacted by the school district, in December of 2022, after the victim reported an “upsetting” encounter with her Spanish teacher, Mr. Cesar Caceres-Tello.
According to the affidavit, police say the victim told officers that she was sitting in Mr. Caceres-Tello’s class, prior to her lunch break, when he allegedly closed the door with only the two of them in the classroom.
Police say the victim stated that she thought that he didn’t realize that she was still there until he sat down in a desk next to her.
Investigators say Caceres-Tello then reportedly began asking the victim various inappropriate questions, which were sexual in nature, which made the victim uncomfortable.
Police say the victim stated that she became so upset that she began to cry, at which time Mr. Caceres-Tello reportedly told her that she was “too pretty to cry.”
State College School District said quote:
“When our administration became aware of what a teacher had reported, we took immediate action which included informing the police and protecting our high school students.
since that time, we have been cooperating with the police during their investigation and also providing support to anyone in need of assistance.”
“Our commitment is to provide a nurturing environment where every student feels safe, respected, and able to reach their full potential.
anything less than that is unacceptable.”
