Hyndman Man Facing Charges

State police in Bedford County say a Hyndman man is facing charges after being accused of having unlawful contact with a juvenile female.

Troopers say in April, a juvenile male reported to police that 31-year-old Anthony Troutman had been engaging in sexually explicit conversations with the girl via text.

Police say in one of the conversations, Troutman reportedly told the girl, “If you want to learn a thing or 2, I’ll show you but I don’t want you snitching on me.”

Investigators say when they girl asked for clarification on what Troutman meant, he responded, “sexual.”

Police say the girl admitted to authorities that Troutman often talks to her about “sexual things” and says that the conversations make her “feel uncomfortable.”

Authorities say a follow up interview with the juvenile male who initially reported the messages revealed that, on one occasion, Troutman was witnessed laying on the girl’s lap during a Zoom call.

Police say the male told investigators that the incident made both he and the girl uncomfortable.

Authorities say, upon further investigation, they discovered that Troutman had engaged in similar sexual conversations with other juveniles on Facebook.

According to the affidavit, police say the other juveniles also told investigators that Troutman would often supply the girl with alcohol, marijuana and vapes.

Troutman was taken into custody last week and is being held at the Bedford County Correctional Facility on charges of unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, child endangerment, indecent assault, and furnishing alcohol to a minor, according to online court documents.

Court records show that his bail was set at $100,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 21.
