They say they’ve been training all year for the Pennsylvania Summer Games.
Athletes from Johnstown say they were about halfway to Penn State before finding out the games were cancelled.
They say it’s a letdown but they understand the safety concerns.
The athletes say because of the circumstances they are not mad about the decision and say not having the event this year will make next year even sweeter.
“We was feeling very disappointed because we was working hard for this all season so it really gave us a downfall.”
“And I was also looking forward to the healthy athletes, the opening ceremonies, and a party. It’s all gone now, but we got next year.”
Special Olympic Athletes tell us they were disappointed when they heard the news but they weren’t mad.
