Jury Selection in Suspended Somerset County DA Case

Jury selection is set to begin next week for Suspended Somerset County District Attorney Jeff Thomas for allegedly assaulting a woman in 2021.

This was originally set to begin back in September of last year, but it was continued until this upcoming Monday, January 9th.

The trial itself is expected to start Wednesday, March 8th according to an official with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office which is handing the case.

Authorities say they arrested Thomas in September of 2021 for allegedly physically and sexually assaulting a Windber woman in her home.

Judge Creany granted the defendant’s motion to postpone the trial due to “witness availability.”

Both sides were also to have a meeting with the judge to go over 800 pages of text messages to see whether or not they can be used in the trial.

We reached out to the AG’s office and Thomas’s attorney for comment but have not heard back from either.
