Decker Chapel
Our area is full of hundreds of years of history. Part of that history sits front and center in St. Mary’s. If you blink driving by, you might miss it. In the mid 1800s, a man named Michael Decker built a small chapel when he first settled there. In 1928, the Knights of Columbus took over restoring the chapel. Then, in 1955, it was lit for the first time. The chapel was added to the national register of historical places in 1998 by the Elk County Historical Society. How the chapel came to be and what it means to St. Mary’s is a unique part of its story.
