Altoona Police Arrest A Second Person In Massive Theft In Blair County

Altoona police say a second person has been charged in connection to a staged burglary and the theft of approximately $2 million.

According to the affidavit, police say 42-year-old Janelle Degennaro is accused of helping Andrew Booker hide the stolen cash at her Altoona home.

Booker was charged earlier this week after police say he allegedly staged a burglary at his 21st Avenue home and stole $2 million from a safe, belonging to one of his relatives, which was located inside the residence.

Authorities say Booker is accused of then taking “bags” of the stolen cash to Degennaro’s home for “safe keeping.”

During the course of the investigation, police say they uncovered various messages between the pair regarding the cash, including multiple arguments about where the money was being stored.

Police say they also learned that Booker had deposited over $40,000 in a bank account, belonging to Degannaro, and that she reportedly helped him spend the money on various items, including ATVs and dirt bikes.

According to online court records, Degennaro was arraigned Wednesday afternoon on charges of receiving stolen property and felony conspiracy.

She has since been released on unsecured bail.
