Authorities with the Tyrone Borough Police Department say a Blair County man is behind bars after he allegedly assaulted a local resident in his bedroom and stole his car earlier this week.
Police say Ronald Greene Jr., 29, who is known to the victim, allegedly entered the victim’s bedroom around 3 a.m. Monday.
Investigators say he reportedly assaulted the victim and “demanded” the victim’s car keys after claiming that “someone was trying to kill one of his relatives.”
Police say Greene then reportedly forced the victim outside where he “ordered him to the ground.”
Authorities say when officers arrived at the home, located along Clay Ave., they observed the victim with visible injuries and noticed that he was bleeding from the face.
Police say the victim then told officers that Greene was armed and was still sitting inside his vehicle in the driveway.
Investigators say Greene then backed the vehicle out of the driveway and fled the scene before crashing at the corner of Highland Drive and Clay Ave.
Police say Greene reportedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot, at which time he appeared to be armed with a rifle.
Authorities say a warrant was issued for Greene’s arrest but police were unable to locate him until he reportedly returned to the residence several hours later.
Police say officers reportedly found Greene hiding under a bed and noted that he resisted being taken into custody.
Authorities say during the incident, one of the officers allegedly suffered an injury to his hand and was treated at Penn Highlands Tyrone for a hand fracture.
According to online court records, Greene faces numerous charges including simple assault, illegal firearms possession, fleeing/eluding police and aggravated assault of a police officer.
He is being housed at the Blair County Prison. Police note that his bail was set at $75,000 for the initial assault and $50,000 for the incident while being taken into custody.
