A Blair County man is behind bars after he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase earlier today through Blair and Bedford Counties.
Police say at about 9:15 this morning an officer stopped a vehicle driven by James Bywater Jr. at Walmart in Freedom Township for driving with a suspended license.
They say he also had multiple multiple warrants.
Authorities say Bywater told the officer bye and took off, leading several officers on a pursuit throughout Southern Blair and into Northern Bedford County.
Officials say that during the chase Bywater’s vehicle hit speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour before being stopped near Dunnings Highway.
Bywater is now charged with multiple offenses including felonies for escape and fleeing police.
