Local cable company Breezeline is reportedly “scaling back” some of its operations.
While details are limited at this time, 6 News is hearing that dozens could be losing their jobs, with the Johnstown area being greatly affected, according to sources close to the situation.
Breezeline would not specifically confirm any details and a spokesperson issued the following statement.
“Like any business, we must from time to time analyze our workforce and make organizational decisions that we believe are necessary to adapt to changing customer preferences and business needs to best serve our customers.
While we cannot comment on specific decisions, we have made reductions in some areas, invested in others, and implemented other organizational changes throughout the company in different areas to ensure that we have resources
in the right places to deliver the very best connected experiences for our customers and to achieve our high-growth plans.”
The changes are not reportedly just in Johnstown, but throughout the company, according to the spokesperson.
We have also reached out to the state Department of Labor and Industry, who says they have not received notice from Breezeline about any layoffs.
The department says it will release what is called a “warn” notice about layoffs once they are contacted.
We also spoke with a representative from Jari, in Cambria County, who says they were not aware of any notifications from Breezeline as well.
