Authorities with the Cambria County District Attorney’s office say an inmate at the Cambria County Prison will be facing additional charges after he allegedly assaulted a corrections officer over the weekend.
Investigators say 31-year-old Siddeeq Henry, formerly of Philadelphia, is accused of assaulting the officer Sunday morning.
Authorities say the officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.
The DA’s office say Henry will be charged in the coming days with felony assault by a prisoner, multiple felony counts of aggravated assault, misdemeanor institutional vandalism, and other related offenses.
“We take the safety of the men and women in Corrections very seriously, and we will aggressively prosecute crimes committed against them as they are working to protect our community. The staff at the Cambria County Prison are to be commended for their quick action to prevent further harm to their colleague. The injured Corrections Officer remains in our thoughts and prayers.”
Henry remains in the Cambria County Prison, authorities noted.
Court documents show that Henry was arrested and charged last week after threatening to shoot another individual.
He was also found to be in possession of counterfeit currency at the time of his arrest and had a felony warrant for aggravated assault, police noted in the affidavit.
