Centre County Mail-in Ballot Challenge Dismissed

Finally wrapping up the Primary Election while looking forward to the November General Election was on the Agenda Tuesday for Centre County Administrators. The Centre County Election Board on Tuesday finally set to certify last month’s Primary Election results after a legal challenge over mail ballots was dismissed in Court. Too soon to say if the issues raised in the suit regarding how mail ballots are dated could have an impact in the November Election.

Beth Lechman, the Centre County Election Director saying: “That will be something the Board will have to discuss in the future.” The County Commissioners approving a State Grant of just over $5,100 for the County Election Office. Lechman adding: “This Grant is for security issues. So we can use it for any computer related things we may need. We can use it for additional education for Voters. So there’s limited limits what this can be used for.”

The State Support could free up County funding to pay for more staffing in the Election Office in November, if the personnel are needed. Lechman adding: “Right now I think we have the staffing. It all depends on how things are looking in August and September.”

According to figures announced Tuesday, there are just over 101,000 Registered Voters in Centre County.
