State College police say a 15-year-old boy is facing charges after he allegedly broke into a Boalsburg home over the weekend and assaulted an elderly resident.
Authorities say on Saturday, around 5 a.m., officers were dispatched to the residence, located along West Main Street, for a report of a burglary.
Police say the elderly resident reportedly woke up to noises and found the teen inside the residence.
Authorities say the resident reportedly confronted the teen, who then proceeded to assault the homeowner.
Police say when officers arrived at the scene, the teen attempted to flee on foot.
Investigators say during the pursuit, the boy charged at and assaulted one of the officers.
Police say the teen was tased and taken into custody.
Authorities say police then transported the teen to Mount Nittany Medical Center where he attempted to assault the staff and another officer.
Police say the teen was identified as a 15-year-old Centre County resident, and was charged with burglary and aggravated assault.
Authorities say the juvenile is being held at the Centre County Youth Detention Facility.
Police noted that the homeowner suffered facial injuries during the assault and was treated and released.
