Chad A. Edmundson Memorial Foundation

The SPC. Chad A. Edmundson memorial foundation held their 5th annual veteran’s turkey dinner giveaway on Saturday morning.

The Foundation was formed in honor of Edmundson. A young man who gave his life serving his country in Iraq on May 27, 2009 during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

They ended up distributing all 300 turkeys and side dishes in the span of 2 and a half hours.

Each box included one turkey and several sides like stuffing mix, potatoes, gravy, etc.

The food was obtained through various organizations, food drives, and donations from local community members.

Organizers emphasize that the holidays can be a stressful time for those in need.

“This year has been hard on everybody Giving veterans a turkey and knowing that we took that stress off them and to help them. To see the joy in their faces that we feed their families, it was an overwhelming joy. We have young soldiers here at the army today, they get to see what organizations like this are doing, and when they become a veteran, they’re going to see that there’s someone there who will help them.”
