A Cambria County homicide case is moving closer to trial.
Douglas Leap appeared in court today where a judge scheduled another hearing for July 31 to address outstanding pretrial motions.
Both sides have until July 17 to file additional motions, and a jury trial remains scheduled for September.
Leap is charged in the fatal shooting of Ambrose Bowers outside a Cresson Borough bar in June 2024.
Prosecutors allege Leap shot Bowers during a confrontation.
Leap has maintained he acted in self-defense.
He remains lodged in the Cambria County Prison.
