The Somerset County Coroner says a man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle. As we await more information from State Police, here is what we know so far as of Thursday evening.
Emergency Crews blocked parts of Route 281 in Somerset County early Thursday morning. The crash happened around 9 and the road reopened in mid afternoon. An Official with the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department confirmed a Crash Reconstruction Team was called.
For people in the area, they were shocked to hear about the loss of life. Robert Marshall, a Somerset Resident saying: “Just terrible. Terrible, terrible, terrbile.” Somerset Co. Construction Worker Rebecca Stahl adding: “Its never good to hear someone getting hit by a car.”
Many people in Somerset County were just beginning their day when the crash happened and most didn’t know what happened on one of Counties busiest roads. Somerset County Coroner Cullen Swank said he wasn’t releasing the name of the victim yet. Robert Marshall, in closing: “Traffic accidents happen. I just wish it weren’t involved with a pedestrian.”
An Autopsy has been scheduled for Friday morning.
