Fundraiser Turns Deadly

Pennsylvania State Police confirmed late Saturday night that two people were dead and 17 others were injured after a driver plowed his vehicle into a crowd of people who were at a benefit for the survivors of a fatal fire, then fled the scene and killed his mother.

State police charged Adrian Oswaldo Sura Reyes, 24, with two counts of criminal homicide early Sunday morning.

Tpr. Anthony Petroski of PSP Troop N said they were called to the Intoxicology Department bar and restaurant in Berwick, Columbia County around 6:15 p.m. Saturday by local police and found one person dead and several people injured.

Petroski said PSP got a separate call a short time later about a woman who was being assaulted in Nescopeck, Luzerne County. The suspect was in local policy custody by the time PSP arrived and the woman was dead on scene,
