James Franklin Press Conference

Penn State football visits Maryland this week after a nail biter against Indiana.

Jared Parker tells us how the team dealt with last week’s pressure.

After multiple mistakes forced the Nittany Lions into a close game with the Hoosiers Saturday

Head Coach James Franklin said his players made plays when they needed to

“We made plays when it matters most.”

Late in the fourth quarter Indiana needed just 21 yards for a go ahead touchdown after an interception was thrown by Drew Allar

“It’s in the worst area of the field that you want it to be at a critical moment. Well our defense didn’t blink. They went in there and got a critical three and out.”

While Drew Allar expressed disapointment with his decision making on that play

“In that situation I can’t put the ball in jeopardy being up three backed up in our own territory.”

Allar threw three hundred eleven passes before his first interception a major college football record

Franklin said more goes into Allar’s performance than we see

“There’s alot more to being the quarterback at a place like Penn State than just running the offense.”

But when it came time to assess the last two weeks for Penn State football,

A loss to Ohio State and this narrow win over Indiana Franklin put it simply they’ve got to play better

Penn State prepares to visit Maryland Saturday a place that James Franklin coached two years, in two separate stints

And while he says he’s familiar with Maryland, he says they’re familiar with him as well
