Julian Khater Pleads Guilty

Federal authorities say a former State College business owner has pleaded guilty to assaulting police officers during the January 6 Capitol riot.

The Justice Department says 33-year-old Julian Khater pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers with a dangerous weapon after he reportedly sprayed officers with a chemical spray during the riot.

Investigators say Khater and another man, identified as George Pierre Tanios, traveled together to Washington D.C. on the day of the riot.

Authorities say the pair purchased two cans each of bear spray and pepper spray, which they reportedly used on multiple officers during the riot.

Khater is scheduled to be sentenced in December and faces a maximum of 40 years in prison.
