Registration for Certain Veterans under Pact Act Set To Expire

“There are less than 5 months for those veterans. They served us. This is our opportunity to serve them.” says James E. Van Zandt Medical Center, assistant chief, Ron Peterman. He says benefits coming from the pact act are set to expire soon.

The ‘PACT Act’ affects certain groups of veterans, including Vietnam, Gulf War, and post 9/11 veterans, to name a few. Treatment involves recovery efforts to veterans who have encountered toxic exposure while serving. Peterman says a big part of this is due to ‘Agent Orange.’

Peterman also say s the enrollment period is limited for new patients, because of the legislation on the act. Peterman says “Often I hear from veterans who are not enrolled in the community, they come to me and they say, well I don’t want to enroll because I don’t want to take services away from another veteran who needs it more. Really, that couldn’t be further from the truth. We need them to enroll, to continue to provide the services that we provide.”

The period for enrollment in the PACT Act ends on October 1st, 2023. Contact information for the Department of Veterans Affairs, to enroll, is listed below.
