Palm Sunday Services

It’s the last Sunday of Lent across our region. Many went to church over the weekend for Palm Sunday masses. Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week, which is the most important week of the year for Christians.

Palm Sunday marks the last Sunday of Lent and the Sunday before Easter.

Here are parishioners at the Saint John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown. They were holding up their palm leaves.

The Palm Branch is a symbol of victory, peace and eternal life, especially heading into Easter.

The Pope’s annual church service at the Vatican in Italy was a little extra special this year.

That’s because the 86 year old was just released from the hospital over the weekend after a bout with bronchitis.

There were over 60,000 people carrying traditional Palm Leaves and Olive Branches.
