Authorities in Centre County say a Pleasant Gap man has been charged after he reportedly attempted to sexually assault a nurse at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Police say on Dec. 8, officers were called to the hospital for a reported sexual assault involving a traveling nurse and a male patient.
Investigators say the patient, identified as 65-year-old Randy Ripka, had reportedly been admitted to the hospital and the victim was assigned to assess his condition
Police say during the examination, Ripka allegedly began making crude and sexually explicit remarks towards the nurse.
Authorities say Ripka then allegedly grabbed the victim’s arm and attempted to force her to perform sexual acts on him.
According to the affidavit, as the nurse attempted to leave the room, police say Ripka allegedly began to “openly” pleasure himself.
Authorities say the nurse then left the room and reported the incident to her supervisor.
According to online court records, Ripka was arraigned Wednesday on charges of attempted sexual assault, attempted indecent assault and indecent exposure.
He has since been released on unsecured bail.
