A new food pantry opened up in Centre County to help feed hungry families ahead of the new year.
The Saint Mark Lutheran Church food pantry is now located outdoors behind the church.
It’s a cabinet filled with non-perishable items including pasta, sauce, beans, and breakfast food.
The church hopes to work with local farmers later this year to add produce to the food pantry.
The Pastor of the church says there is food insecurity in the area and felt it is part of his calling is to help.
“When people see there’s a need of something, that gets me. To see how this region, the community of people here just rally together and say we’re going to help.”
The pantry is open to the public.
The church and food pantry are located at 850 Snydertown Road in Walker Township.
