As Bedford County’s EMA Director prepares for his retirement dozens of Bedford County government employees came together to say goodbye and congratulate Dave Cubbison.
For the last 20-years Cubbison served the county. Leading them through multiple disasters including the aftermath of super storm Jonas and the Hyndman train derailment.
He says, the job has been very rewarding for him and that it’s been a pleasure working for the county.
“There has been a lot of benefits to this. There is a lot of personal growth, a lot of educational opportunities. I have learned so much. A lot of what I have learned of the last twenty years is people and how to deal with people. The people of this county are resilient.”
Cubbison reassures the community that the agency is being left in capable hands, with the new director and says he plans on staying active in the community.
