Bedford Man Behind Bars for Deadly Wrong Way Accident

Authorities say a Bedford man is behind bars for his role in a deadly, wrong-way crash in West Providence Township nearly two years ago.

State police have filed several charges, including involuntary manslaughter and homicide by vehicle, against 39-year-old Mark Crawley for causing the head-on collision in May of 2021.

Investigators say both Crawley and the victim, 59-year-old Donna Lewis, were transported to UPMC Altoona following the crash along the 14,000 block of Lincoln Highway.

Police say nearby surveillance video showed Crawley’s vehicle traveling in the opposite lane and crashing into Lewis.

Authorities say Lewis succumbed to her injuries a couple weeks after the crash.

Upon further investigation, troopers learned that Crawley had cocaine in his system at the time of the crash, according to the affidavit.

Crawley is being held at the Bedford County Jail on $250,000 bail, court records show, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 8th.
