Body Found in Cambria County Garage

The Cambria County coroner said his office is investigating after a homeowner found a body inside an abandoned garage.

Jeff Lees said the body that was found on the 2nd flood of the garage in the 1500 block of Franklin Street around 5:00 p.m. Sunday was severely decomposed. Lees said DNA testing and other imaging will need to be done to identify the individual.

Lees said he believed the body had been there for some time. A ladder had to be used to access the upper story of the garage.

Johnstown Police detectives were also on the scene investigating.

Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees Monday identified the body as 28-year-old Lucas Cornelius.

Lees says Cornelius’ cause of death is pending a toxicology report but foul play is not suspected.

He said Cornelius lived about three blocks away and had been missing since last year.

Lees estimates Cornelius had been dead about a year.
