Center County Courthouse Renovation Update

Work is continuing on a major renovation project at the Centre County courthouse, but just weeks into the project, there are some changes in the original game plan.

The retaining walls on both sides of the courthouse are well over one hundred years old and are deteriorating quickly.

A few weeks ago, the restoration work got underway by installing what’s termed “soil nails.”

Plans were to complete work on the north side, and then switch to the South side, but due to the weather conditions, the work has already moved over to the South side.

“Once the South side is done, soil nailing, concrete, the works, new railing; then they’ll move back to the North side to complete the concrete work.”

Work on the $2.1 million dollar is expected to be completed later this year.
