The Blair County coroner’s office has released the cause of death for the victim of this past weekend’s fatal fire at a home along Maple Avenue in Altoona.
While authorities have not yet released the identity of the fire victim, officials say the man died as a result of smoke inhalation.
Fire crews were dispatched to the home, located along the 200 block of Maple Ave., Friday evening.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but the coroner’s office says that the individual is believed to have started the fire somehow.
Authorities say police and the fire marshal are still conducting their investigation into the blaze.
