Among those at Ag Progress Days was Senator Robert Casey who says congress is exploring the possibility of extending funding for the free school lunch programs that kept millions of school kids fed during the pandemic.
The funding for the program has now expired.
“There’s no question we have resources committed to school lunch, school breakfast, snap, so many critical programs insuring we have not only feeding children, but alot purchasing food, the one recent bright spot was extension waivers and other provisions that allowed us to get through this summer, the problem is we got to do the same thing for next summer”
The waivers issued during the pandemic allowed millions of more students to receive school meals at no cost.
