Johnstown Police Chase

According to Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer, one man is in custody following an armed burglary that turned into a police chase in Johnstown Saturday night.

The DA’s release says that just before 11 p.m. Saturday, Johnstown police were dispatched to a home along the 500 block of Woodvale Avenue for a report of a burglary involving a firearm.

Authorities say the suspect, who was later identified as 29-year-old Jaymir Khali Hall-Huger, led police on a pursuit, which resulted in several parked vehicles being damaged.

“The defendant’s vehicle ended up being stranded on railroad tracks, and he proceeded to jump off the viaduct wall into the Conemaugh River. He was removed from the river with assistance from the Johnstown Fire Department and was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for possible hypothermia,” Neugebauer said.

The DA says that during the pursuit, a Johnstown police officer discharged his firearm.

“As per Johnstown Police Department policy, the officer is on administrative duty upon completion of the investigation,” the DA said.

Authorities say no one was injured during the incident and state police are handling the investigation.

Hall-Huger faces a slew of charges, according to the DA’s office, including burglary, criminal trespass, fleeing and eluding, making terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, simple assault, accidents involving damage to vehicles or property and reckless driving.

Neugebauer says that he will be handling the prosecution of Hall-Huger, who is currently residing at the Cambria County Prison awaiting arraignment.
