Plans for a new outdoor performing arts venue in Centre County are moving ahead with fundraising being a top priority.
The Stage at Talleyrand Project was unveiled a few months ago, with plans for it to be built in Bellefonte’s Talleyrand Park Annex.
Developers say it’s designed to be a state of the art, multi-purpose facility for concerts, shows and other events.
The project has gotten off to a good start, receiving a huge boost from the state through a million-dollar grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development, as fundraising efforts continue.
“We’ve raised over one hundred thousand dollars in private donations from more than fifty donors. We’re just getting started. We considered May 1st as our kickoff date for raising funds.”
Organizers are hoping to raise at least $2.4 million for the project.
They’re also working with local officials and others on related parking and traffic issues.
Groundbreaking for the stage is a little over a year away and is set for October of 2024.
