Authorities with the Cambria County DA’s office confirmed that a trial date is now set for a Johnstown man accused of shooting and killing a local high schooler last year on New Year’s Day.
Qwante Rose, who was arrested in September on criminal homicide charges, is scheduled to face a jury in July.
Court officials say jury selection is scheduled for July 17th, with the trial set to immediately follow.
Rose is accused of killing 19-year-old Jayden Sanderson, whose body was found left in a car on Wood Street in the Hornerstown section of Johnstown.
Investigators say Rose and Sanderson were reportedly in a relationship and had attended a New Year’s Eve party just hours before the crime.
Authorities say a witness told police that Rose confessed to shooting Sanderson in the back of the head.
