There was a meeting Tuesday held by the House Judiciary Committee on House Bill 235. A bill that would require background checks for firearm purchases.
A recent poll of Pennsylvanians found that 89 percent support universal background checks for all firearm purchases.
Currently, loopholes exist that allow certain firearms to be purchased at gun shows without the buyer undergoing a background check.
The bill now goes to the full house as committed.
“We can actually get guns out of the hands of people who should not and cannot be trusted to have firearms, because they’re a danger to themselves or to others.”
“We’re a tough on crime state, we have strong laws on the books that punish criminals for destroying our communities.”
