A Bedford County man, accused of shooting his Cousin last year and then conspiring to burn his body, entered a guilty plea in the case. Officials say Derek Louk pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of Tyler Matthai last April.
Authorities say Louk admitted to fatally shooting Mattahai and then planning with Courtney Boden and Jordan Robertson to burn the body and cover up the crime. Boden and Robertson pleaded guilty in the case. Boden was sentenced to just over 2 to 14 years in prison and Robertson is still awaiting his sentencing.
Officials say Louk faces 15 to 30 years in jail. He’s set to be sentenced on September 22nd.
