Authorities say a Cambria County man drowned early Monday morning in a pond in Carrolltown Borough. Crews were called just before 4 to the pond along Dindios Street. The Coroner’s Office says a dive team recovered 42-year-old Eric Bender just after 5am.
They say Bender lived about 100 yards away from the water. Bender was taken to Conemaugh Miners ER and wasn’t able to be resuscitated. His cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy and toxicology report.
The Coroner’s Office and State Police are investigating.
