Dubois, Sandy Township Merger Meeting

The City of Dubois and Sandy Township are having a joint board meeting this evening to discuss their consolidation.

Voters first approved a referendum back in 2021 to merge the two municipalities.

But Sandy Township filed a lawsuit to seek a pause in the consolidation process.

Representatives from Sandy Township say they filed this lawsuit due to the ongoing criminal investigation into former Dubois City Manager Herm Suplizio.

Sandy Township Manager Shawn Arbaugh says that they feel more comfortable with the situation now that Dubois has two new council members and a newly elected mayor.

In their first meeting earlier this month the new council voted to officially terminate Suplizio.

The meeting tonight will feature talks about the lawsuit from Sandy Township and also the forming of a nine person consolidation committee. There will also be time for public comments
