We begin tonight with Penn State responding to a lawsuit first unsealed last week.
It alleges that the University mishandled sensitive government information.
It’s related to Penn State’s Applied Research Lab.
The lawsuit was filed by Matthew Decker on behalf of himself and the United States of America.
The lawsuit states that Decker served as Chief Information Officer for Penn State’s Applied Research Lab (since 2015).
The lab received hundreds of millions of dollars each year through government contracts To research & develop national security improvements.
In the lawsuit Decker alleges that the University did not meet security standards for various projects.
In response Penn State told the Daily Collegian that they’ve allocated significant resources To maintain compliance with Federal requirements while working with the government to address any questions
Going on to say that they’ll address these allegations at the appropriate time.
